House Wash NZ · Auckland & Northland
Solar panel cleaning in Auckland & Northland
Rain washes away some dust. It does not always shift bird droppings, pollen or grime caught along the lower edge.
We clean accessible solar panel glass with care for the panels, roof and electrical components. Send us a ground-level photo, panel count and address; we’ll check access and put together a quote.
Glass-face cleaning for accessible panels

Clear glass, clear scope
What does solar panel cleaning include?
The cleaning work focuses on the light-facing glass of the panels, removing accessible dust, pollen, bird droppings and other surface soiling. We use a gentle method suited to the panel and its manufacturer’s instructions, and avoid abrasive tools or high-pressure water blasting.
We agree on the number of panels and access before work starts. If we see cracked glass, loose parts or an apparent wiring issue, that needs the solar installer or a qualified electrical professional rather than a cleaner.
- Accessible panel glass
- Dust and pollen build-up
- Bird droppings and surface grime
- Dirt along reachable lower edges
- Panel count and access review
- Manufacturer guidance considered
A panel is different from a roof tile
Gentle washing without pressure blasting
Solar panels have glass, frames, seals and electrical connections. The glass may be exposed to weather, but that does not make it a surface for harsh scrubbing or a pressure washer.
For normal soiling
Careful glass-face cleaning
We plan a non-abrasive clean for the accessible panel faces. The water and tools should suit the panel maker’s instructions; tell us the brand and model if you know them.
Heavy marks such as baked-on bird droppings may need extra attention, but we will not scrape the glass with hard tools.
For roof and electrical safety
Access checked before booking
Roof pitch, height, fragile roofing and nearby power lines can affect how the panels are reached. We’ll assess the site rather than promise every installation can be cleaned from the ground.
Water is kept away from exposed wiring and connectors. Electrical faults and damaged panels are referred to the appropriate specialist.
Help us understand the installation
What we need to quote your panels
A photo taken safely from the ground is usually a good start. Include the full roof, the number of panels and the areas with obvious build-up. Tell us whether they are on a house, shed or commercial building, and if there is a safe water supply nearby.
If you have the manufacturer’s cleaning instructions or notice any cracked panel, exposed cable or system fault, mention that in your enquiry. We can then discuss the cleaning scope and whether another professional should look at the installation first.
Send the panel details →A realistic expectation
Clean panels can receive more light
Soiling can block light from reaching solar cells. Removing it is sensible maintenance when the panels are visibly dirty.
The change in energy production, if any, depends on how dirty the panels were, the weather, shade, season and the condition of the system. Cleaning cannot fix an inverter fault or guarantee a percentage increase.
From enquiry to a clear plan
A simple way to arrange cleaning
We look at access and panel details before confirming what can be cleaned.
Send a roof photo
Share the address, panel count, roof type and any visible bird droppings or heavy soiling. Take photos from a safe place.
Agree the scope
We consider height, roof pitch, water access and panel guidance, then confirm which panels and surfaces are included.
Clean with care
We arrange a suitable time and clean the agreed accessible glass faces. Any visible damage needing specialist attention is raised with you.
More work around the roofline?
Ask about the roof and gutters separately
Panels, roofs and gutters have different cleaning methods. If you’re arranging a house wash, roof treatment or gutter clean, include the panels in the enquiry so we can plan the site and price each task.
Let us know where the panels sit relative to the roof areas being washed or treated. The quote will spell out which surfaces are included.

Questions before booking
Do you clean solar panels in Auckland and Northland?
Yes. Send the property address in Auckland, Whangārei or elsewhere in Northland, along with a ground-level roof photo and panel count. We’ll confirm availability and assess access for a quote.
Will cleaning my solar panels increase their output?
It may help if dust, bird droppings or other deposits are blocking light. The amount varies by site and cannot be guaranteed. Shade, weather, season and system faults also affect production; ask your installer to investigate a persistent fault.
Does rain clean solar panels well enough?
Rain can rinse loose dust from some installations. Bird droppings, pollen and dirt gathered at a lower edge may remain. If you can see stubborn soiling from a safe position, send us a photo.
Do you use a pressure washer on the panels?
No high-pressure water blasting is proposed for the panel glass. We plan a gentle, non-abrasive method suited to the panel maker’s instructions and avoid wetting exposed wiring and connectors.
How often should solar panels be cleaned?
There is no one schedule for every property. Rainfall, roof pitch, birds, trees, pollen and nearby dust all matter. Check the panel manufacturer’s maintenance guidance and arrange cleaning when soiling is building up.
Can you clean panels on a steep or high roof?
Possibly, but access has to be assessed first. Send photos showing the roof, height and surrounding ground. We’ll discuss whether suitable access can be arranged for that installation.
Can you repair a panel or check the inverter?
No. This is a glass-surface cleaning service. Cracked panels, damaged wiring, inverter faults and electrical testing need the installer or an appropriately qualified electrical professional.
Can panel cleaning be booked with a house or roof wash?
Yes, you can ask for the work in one enquiry. We’ll quote the solar panel cleaning, roof washing and other services as separate tasks because the methods and surfaces differ.
